Activities

Minnesota Saddlebred Horse Association (MSHA) originated in the 1960’s and was formally established in 1983. Our events reach thousands of individuals throughout Minnesota and other states.

Youth Programs

Our programs encourage sportsmanship, learning and volunteerism among youth members through award programs and scholarship opportunities. These young people support the future enjoyment of the breed as they become skilled riders, owners and exhibitors.

Horse Shows

Minnesota hosts eight to ten competition horse shows annually. The horse show season begins in April and runs through October. Shows are free for the public to attend and enjoy!

MSHA hosts two of its own shows every year, The Capitol Classic and Minnesota State Championships.

See MSHA's Events Calendar page for a schedule of horse shows, including Spring Tune-up Horse Show, FASH, Tanbark Cavalcade of Roses Horse Show, Summerfest, North Star Horse Show, The Capitol Classic Horse Show, Cannon Valley Classic, and the Minnesota Saddlebred State Championship Horse Show and Minnesota Academy Equestrian Finals.

Minnesota Saddlebred State Championships

This is an MSHA-approved series of horse shows that culminates in MSHA championships awarded at the end of the show season.

Expos

MSHA’s participation in local events such as Horse Crazy Market, Minnesota State Fair and Minnesota Horse Expo introduces the American Saddlebred horse to the public and provides information about the versatility of the breed.

Futurity Classes

Minnesota Saddlebred Horse Association runs the annual  Minnesota Saddlebred State Championship Horse Show each fall. This fun fall show features special classes for young horses.

Stable Marketing

MSHA supports our member stables through a variety of efforts, including drawings for riding lessons and local advertising.

Horsemanship Clinics

From time to time, MSHA sponsors clinics by nationally-renowned instructors to build horsemanship knowledge and skills.
